Abhay Moghekar

Lab Director

While in college Abhay read a book about the brain that hooked him to neuroscience. He decided to be a neurologist and with a lucky break landed at Johns Hopkins where he started his research career. If not for neuroscience he would be a physicist.

Sara Ho

Laboratory Manager

Sara earned her B.S. in biology from the University of Pittsburgh and M.H.S. in molecular microbiology and immunology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Her favorite part of working in the Brain Signatures Lab is working with a variety of scientific instruments. If not in her current position, she would be creating new humanized animal models to develop novel therapeutics or pursuing a career as a chef. Outside of the lab, Sara enjoys photography, sailing, and playing tennis with friends.

Aida Kamalian

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Aida earned her M.D. and MPH from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and now works as a postdoctoral research fellow at BrainSigns Lab. She aspires to become a neurologist just like her favorite author, Oliver Sacks. If she did not choose medicine, she would have become a painter or a poet.

Siavash Shirzadeh Barough

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Siavash earned his M.D. from Shahid Beheshti University and now works as a postdoctoral research fellow at BrainSigns Lab. He pursued programming while studying medicine, becoming an AI developer with a focus on uniting healthcare and technology. His expertise lies in leveraging AI to advance brain-related research, aiming to significantly impact modern healthcare through improved understanding and treatment methods. Siavash enjoys playing video games, watching Star Wars, and Snowboarding.

Ziling Shen

I earned my master’s degree in Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University, where I had exposure to clinical trial design using statistical methods. I mainly work on data analysis using various quantitative methods and carry out results from statistical tests. Other than coding and data, I spend most of my time hiking, reading, and going to the gym.

Iman Foroughmand

Research Coordinator

Iman earned his M.D. degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He aspires to become an internist and is passionate about teaching. Outside of medicine, he loves playing board games, photography, and watching soccer.

Anny Zheng

Research Coordinator

Anny earned her B.S. in Neuroscience from Baylor University and is now working as a research project coordinator at BrainSigns Lab. Her goal is to attend graduate school and continue working with patients with neurological disorders. In her free time, she enjoys long car-rides, rewatching Brooklyn 99, and trying new restaurants

Thaovy Ho

Neuropsych Research Coordinator

Thaovy is a Maryland native who earned her Bachelor's in Psychology at UMBC. She certainly values the neuroscientific research at the Brain Signatures dry lab and clinical experience at Johns Hopkins. Her long-term goals are to become a clinician and psychology professor. Aside from research, you can find her routinely at the gym training Muay Thai, in the kitchen baking treats, or at the park playing ukulele.

Gianna Proscino

Neuropsych Research Coordinator

In college Gianna studied clinical psychology and fell in love with research. She became drawn to Neuropsychology after taking the course. After graduating she briefly worked in a residential treatment center for adolescent females. With goals to pursue research in the neuropsych field, she moved from Connecticut to Baltimore and began a career at John's Hopkins. She plans to work as a Neuropsychologist one day.
